This morning, after watching the news for five minutes I realized what a big lie the whole thing is and how nothing changes.
Israel and Palestine peace talks had failed. Another bomb had exploded. One country was threatening another country, a hurricane here, an earthquake there. Then a tsunami on the other side of the ocean and all these catastrophes leaving millions of homeless people. Then a telethon here and a rock concert there to collect relief funds for all displaced people.
Recycled news, over and over.
Another terrorist attack, dozens of protests all around the world. The economy is going badly here, there and everywhere. Famine in Africa, thousands of people dead after an ethnic cleansing project by a ruthless dictator. One president getting the Nobel Peace Prize, while in other countries twenty more are overthrown or put in jail or accused of corruption. Or if lucky, assassinated.
Then, the more important news: Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, Bill Cosby, O. J. Simpson, Bruce/Caitlin Jenner, Howard Stern, the list is long. Man, how can I spend another five minutes of my 'precious' time watching all that crap.
Then, the new political candidates, the past president, the future president. The recycling and repetitive actions of our own bad choices, but then when they die, they become the 'good' presidents. Oh my God, here comes Trump too!
And what about the new Beatles, the new Dylan, the new British invasion, the new dance craze. Followed by the new serial killer, another terrorist attack, a new massacre at the mall or the post office. You name it, it's all here, the same old news, just like ten or twenty or thirty years ago.
And then, a pharmaceutical company discovers another illness, they invent a name for it and find a new drug to cure it. But it comes with a dozen side effects, and then, they find a drug to fight these side effects. And all gets done in a week. Greed is their only creed.
The next day they declare that red wine and coffee are good for you. While another study done by the same people claim all the opposite. Vegans are in, vegetarians are out. Then the new trend, vegetarian cannibals.
How can you spend another minute of your precious life watching all this trash.
Wait a minute, what? Charles Manson on the electric chair, live on pay per view? Oh God, I gotta see this!
